The New Bern Firemen's Museum has been in operation since 1955 and will be relocating in 2010 to the Central Fire Station located on Broad Street. The Central Station was built in 1928 and is being restored to almost original condition. New Bern is proud to offer authentic New Bern fire wagons, engines and firefighting equipment that visitors can view. The new Museum will also feature a Children's Education Center and an interactive exhibit about the Great Fire of 1922. The website reflects the new look and feel of the Museum, gives a good overview of the history of firefighting in New Bern and features an online store where visitors can view merchandise that is sold in the Museum. It serves as a point of contact for Friends of the Firemen's Museum and lets the public know about upcoming lectures and fundraisers.

In addition, the Museum is also gearing up for a brick fundraiser, where visitors and residents alike can purchase a personalized brick that will be used in the renovation of the Central Station. The bricks will be featured in a courtyard area that will connect the new Museum with the Gift Shop. Feel free to contact the Museum for more information!
